Containers for self storage and rental fleets

Uniform, lockable, dry units that a storage operator can rent by the month from the first day they land on the lot.

Best fit: 20′ Standard · One Trip

Storage and rental operators buy containers differently from anyone else. You are not buying one box to solve one problem; you are buying a product that your customers will open, judge and pay for every month. Consistency, condition and supply matter as much as the price of a single unit.

Container storage also lets an operator add capacity without building. Units can go on an existing paved lot, be added a few at a time as demand grows and be moved or sold if the market shifts.

Why operators choose containers

A container is a finished, rentable unit on arrival. There is no slab to pour or roll-up door to install. It is drive-up by nature, which customers like, and it is steel on every side, which keeps break-ins and weather claims down.

Containers also give an operator flexibility. A row of boxes can fill a corner of the lot that would never justify a building, or serve as overflow while a permanent expansion is planned.

What to look for in a rental unit

Your renters will notice condition, so look at what they will see and touch.

  • $
Matching color and condition. A row of units in the same factory paint reads as a professional facility.
  • $
Clean, dry interior. No odors, stains or standing water that would turn into a complaint.
  • $
Easy doors and a lock box. Renters should be able to open the doors by hand and secure them with their own padlock.

Which container fits a rental fleet

For customer-facing storage, the 20 ft standard in one trip condition is the workhorse. It is a size renters understand, it fits more units on a lot and one trip boxes arrive with one coat of factory paint, a clean floor and doors that swing with one hand.

Operators who rent containers for delivery to the customer’s own site, or who sell used units on to other buyers, often mix in cargo worthy boxes where appearance matters less. We help operators plan a fleet by grade and supply, not just by the unit.

Supply is the part operators most often underestimate. Container prices and availability move with the steel and shipping markets, so the operators who grow smoothly plan a few months ahead and talk to us about timing as well as quantity. We would rather tell you early that a size is tight than surprise you on delivery day. Grade matters for resale, too: one trip units hold their value well if you later decide to sell part of the fleet, and that exit option is part of what makes containers a sensible way to add capacity.

Lot layout and delivery

A 20 ft container comes off a tilt bed truck, so the driver needs about 60 feet of straight run in front of the spot, 12 feet of clear width through gates and 14 feet of overhead clearance. On a paved storage lot, the main planning question is the order of placement, so the first boxes do not block the truck’s path to the rest.

Asphalt and concrete are ideal bases as long as they are level. Leave enough room between rows for renters to open both doors fully and back a vehicle up to the unit.

Common questions

Can you supply several matching units at once?

Yes. Tell us how many units you want, in what size and grade, and we confirm what matching stock is available and how delivery can be sequenced on your lot.

Do containers work on an existing paved lot?

They do, as long as the pavement is level and there is room for the tilt bed truck to pull straight in and away. We look at the layout with you before scheduling.

One trip or cargo worthy for rentals?

For units customers visit and open themselves, one trip condition looks and works better. Cargo worthy suits units that go to a customer’s site or where price matters more than looks.
