New and used shipping containers delivered out US-50 to Fallon and the Lahontan Valley, for farms, ranches, shops, and families in Churchill County.

Out US-50 to Churchill County

Fallon is a regular run for us, east through Silver Springs and out US-50 into the Lahontan Valley. Our own drivers bring the container on a tilt-bed truck and set it where you want it, doors facing the way you asked. Delivery is quoted with the container once we have the address, and we sort out access with you before the truck loads rather than after it arrives.

Field addresses, shop yards, and places that are easier to describe by turnoff than by street number are all normal here. Tell us how you would direct a feed truck and that is usually enough. Stock is listed on the inventory page, and you can send the details whenever you are ready.

Farm and ranch storage that actually closes

Alfalfa ground, dairies, and cattle operations all run into the same storage problem: the equipment and the inputs are expensive, the weather is hard on both, and the buildings were sized for a smaller operation. A shipping container is a dry, lockable, rodent-resistant building that shows up finished on a truck. There is no pouring, no framing, and no roof to fix later.

  • $
Feed, supplement, and mineral sealed away from rodents and birds.
  • $
Irrigation pipe, fittings, and pumps in one place instead of scattered along a ditch bank.
  • $
Implements, hitches, and small equipment out of the sun and the alkali dust.
  • $
Shop tooling and parts locked up at a field shop away from the house.
  • $
Tack, vet supplies, and fencing in a box near the working pens instead of a drive back to the barn.

For most operations the 40ft high cube earns its keep first, because the extra foot of height takes pallets and tall equipment, and the cost per cubic foot is the lowest we sell. A 20ft container is the right second box: park it where the work is instead of where the storage is.

The Navy side of town

Fallon is also a Naval Air Station town, which means a steady rhythm of families arriving and moving on, and a lot of gear that has to sit somewhere secure in between. A container on a property here does what a storage unit across town does, except you own it, it sits on your own ground, and it does not empty your pocket every month while it holds your things. When the next set of orders comes, the container either goes with you or sells on.

Alkali ground and wind: block it up level

Valley ground out here goes from hard as pavement in August to soft and salty after a wet stretch, and alkali soil is unkind to bare steel sitting in it. The fix is simple and it is the same fix a good yard would tell you anywhere: do not set the container directly on dirt. Put it up on solid blocks, railroad ties, precast pier blocks, or a few inches of compacted gravel under each of the four corners. That does three things at once. It keeps the bottom rail out of standing water, it lets air move underneath so the floor stays dry, and it gives you something to shim so the box sits true and the doors keep swinging with one hand.

Wind is the other constant. A container is heavy enough that wind is not a stability problem, but the doors are big flat panels, so set the container so the doors do not catch the prevailing gusts when they are open, and use the door holdbacks. Our site prep guide covers base options in more detail.

What Fallon buyers usually pick

Certified cargo-worthy used containers are the workhorse choice here: ten to fifteen years of ocean service, honest dents and surface rust, inspected wind and water tight, with a solid floor and doors that seal. Used 20ft containers start at $2,500 and used 40ft high cubes at $2,870, plus tax. If you want one that looks new on a lot where customers see it, a one-trip container arrives with factory paint and a lock box. Come pick the exact container if you like, the yard details are on our Reno page.

Common questions

Do you deliver to Fallon and Churchill County?

Yes. Fallon is a regular run out US-50, including farm, ranch, and field-shop addresses outside of town.

Should I put the container on blocks?

Yes, we recommend it here. Blocks, pier blocks, ties, or compacted gravel under the four corners keep the bottom rail out of standing water and let air move under the floor.

Will a container keep rodents out of feed?

It is steel with sealing doors and no wood walls to chew, which is a large improvement over most feed sheds. Keep the doors closed and store feed off the floor on pallets.

What size is best for a farm?

A 40ft high cube gives the most storage per dollar and the headroom for pallets and implements. Many operations add a 20ft later to place near the working pens.

How hot does a container get in summer?

Like any steel building in full sun, it warms up. A rooftop vent option keeps air moving, and placing the container so a shed or trees shade one side makes a real difference.
